2026 Energize Thurston Grant Program

Coming in October!

The Energize Thurston Grant Program covers 80-100% of equipment and installation costs of a heat pump and/or heat pump water heater.
You may be eligible to participate if your household income is below 120% of Thurston County area median income (AMI).

The Grant Program will open to new applications in October 2026.
Please join the Thurston Climate Mitigation Collaborative’s mailing list for updates.

We are currently serving 2025 waitlisted applicants for the grant program. If you attended an Energize Thurston workshop in 2025, submitted an application, and were notified that you were put on the waitlist, you do not need to re-apply. Please reach out to energize@co.thurston.wa.us if you have any questions.

South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity administers the Energize Thurston Grant Program in partnership with Thurston County and the cities of Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater. This program is possible thanks to grants from our generous funders: WA State Department of Commerce’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR) program, Puget Sound Energy’s Residential Decarbonization Program, and Washington State University’s Community Energy Efficiency Program.

How to Apply

To apply for a grant-funded heat pump installation, follow these four steps.

  1. Attend an educational workshop and submit an application.
    • A series of free educational workshops, in-person and virtual, will provide information on heat pump technology, energy savings, and available financial assistance. You’ll meet the Energize Installation Partners and have a chance to ask questions. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a link to the program application form.
    • Note: You must live within Thurston County limits to participate in Energize Thurston.
  2. Get income verified.
    • Applicant must provide income documents to South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity to verify your household income qualification. This may include adjusted gross income from a 2025 tax return, or alternative documents such as social security benefits statements.
  3. Get a free assessment and quote.
    • One of our qualified Installation Partners will provide a free site assessment and recommend the best heat pump system for your home.
  4. Review and sign your contract.
    • Review your quote and determine if the recommended heat pump system is the right solution for your home. The Installation Partner will help prepare and submit forms required for discounts and rebates.
  5. Energize!
    • Enjoy the comfort and energy savings from your new equipment.

Note: Funding is limited and not guaranteed. You may be placed on a waitlist.
